Enhance Your Hunting Experience With A Little Preparation

Hunting can be physically demanding. This is especially true when it comes to tracking game. You will be following game through many different types of terrain. There is some preparation which every hunter can do to help ensure that you enjoy your next hunting experience.
A hunter should be realistic with regard to their physical condition. Do you have any physical ailment or condition that would raise your chance of accident or injury when hunting?
Some items to keep in mind when you answer that question are; you will be walking in the woods during various light and weather conditions. Will you be climbing into a tree stand? You will need to properly identify your target. You will need to track your game, possibly for some distance. Before you head into the woods you must be sure that you are physically able to go.
A hunter should have certain items with them anytime they go out on a hunting trip. Make a checklist to ensure that you are always ready. That checklist should include these items; water, snacks, rope, field dressing gloves, hunting knife, field dressing knife, camera and fresh batteries, first aid kit and a survival kit.
I would like to discuss a couple of these items further. Let’s start with the first aid kit. This is an item which can be kept simple. You can walk into almost any retailer and purchase a small first aid kit in a hard, water resistant case. This kit should include at a minimum, band- aids, tape, antiseptic, small scissors, gauze and sterile dressing.
A survival kit. Some hunters feel that this is an unnecessary item because they are hunting on their own property or close to camp. What they often forget is that it may be necessary to track game for some distance.
A survival kit should include at a minimum the following items; water, compass, whistle or other audible signaling device, flashlight, a small knife, matches (in a water proof container), a lighter and a signaling mirror.
There are other items a hunter can consider in there hunting pack; rain gear, emergency shelter and aspirin. A small amount of advanced preparation can keep your mind at ease and increase the pleasure of the hunting experience.
