Northern Exposure follows the lives of recent medical school graduate Joel Fleishman (Rob Morrow) who is reported to be working in a small town in Alaska in order to qualify for the loan of medical school. Making matters worse, he is the only doctor in the small town that is full of eccentric characters from all walks of life. The wealthy businessman Maurice Minnifield owns the city (called Cicely), and is determined to transform it into an ideal vacation paradise.
