Caribou, Grizzlies, Black Bear, White tail and mule deer, Elk, Moose, wolf, seal (during the annual seal hunts) and a variety of bird species.
Actually hunters contribute more to protecting wildlife and wildlife management then any other organization. If you want to talk to someone who truly appreciates nature and wishes to preserve it, talk to any hunter of fisher (I’m talking about the ones who abide by the rules, not the morons who go deer jacking, or poachers) Additionally many species have been saved from extinction by the efforts of hunters and hunting organizations. If an animal becomes extinct or ends up on the endangered species list, then hunters will not be able to hunt the animal, thus it is in their best interest to preserve the species.
The individuals who are going to push a species to extinction are the poachers who only care about making a profit, and housing developers, who continually take away more and more wilderness to create homes. Without land for the animals to live on, how is the species going to survive?
Edit: people hunt because they like the taste of wild game, and for population control. Some states even have special hunting seasons specifically designed to control the numbers of certain animals such as deer. Other hunters may hunt to obtain a trophy animal. In most hunts people eat what they kill. For examples in safari’s in Africa, a hunter will take some of the meat from an animal and will give the rest of the meat to a local villiage for food.
