Hunting Articles For Kids
Did anyone see the Sports Illustrated brainwashing article about hunting?
It was supposedly about how the decline of hunting is changing the natural order of predator and prey. It tells about 2 guys who venture out deep into the Alaska tundra without so much as a penknife for protection and are horrified when 2 wolves snarl at them. The article then shows cutzie photos of kids and families joining quail shooting organizations and other pseudo patriotic blow bambi away propaganda as if hunting were the most caring and wholesome thing since pumpkin pie and absolutely necessary to restore order in the universe. I was both appalled and impressed by the articles extremely shrewd psychological manipulation. What do you think?
I am not sure which side of issue you are on , but I will say anti -hunter SEEMS to be where you are at. The Magazine will use psychological influences whenever possible to give their slant to things. Nobody in the media is innocent of those charges, that’s a fact. Tim Treadwell went to Alaska after he decided that grizzly bears were better approached with nothing more than a cheap running outfit and nursery rhyme names for 800 lb. plus aggressive bears. He was wrong ,he was lunch(girlfriend too), and he was stupid for not carrying a rather large piece( 12ga. shotgun, .460 hunting rifle). He has inspired countless others to engage in the same stupidity with the media coverage he received. If hunting was promoted in that particular issue of S.I., although the article supposedly shed a positive light on it, the editors could and probably did a little underhanded work to show a seamier side of hunting , so as to stir anti-hunting sentiments. Not right up front, but gently ,in the backround. If you were to use a comparison, with football or baseball, have you seen any stills of the big league boys shooting up with steroids prior to the game? No. It just depends on what you REALLY want to promote. Everything that happens has a not-so-pretty side , football or hunting, both are enjoyed by millions. It all has to do with M-O-N-E-Y. Psychological manipulation is what Wall Street does best to part you from your money ,fair play or not, the buck is the bottom line.
