Hunting Big Game In California
If a college in California, which has retained many traditions of the school over the years, is the University of California at Berkeley, also known as Berkeley, UC Berkeley in California, or simply Cal This university, established in 1868, was the first public university in the state to be called University of California. Today, however, the University of California consists of many universities in the University of California statewide.
A traditions which stuck to Cal since its founding the school colors, which are gold and blue. The founders of Berkeley Golden State elected to represent the gold and blue who came from the blue of Yale, as most of the founders of this university was at Yale. Ever since the athletic teams at the University of California at Berkeley, began to join intercollegiate games in 1882, already had the gold and blue. School sports teams, alumni and students called the Golden Bears. It all began in 1895, when the track and field team impressed many people, winning five of the eight competencies. As a result of notable successes, Berkeley, became known throughout U.S. as a formidable track team. In honor of the impressive performance of the track and field team this year, UC Berkeley Professor Charles Mills Gayley created a song called "The Golden Bear". Since then, California's sports teams have been called by that name. Pets Berkeley before 1941 were bears alive. However, for the safety of spectators, the school decided to use pets dressed in their place. In 1941, Oski the Bear, was presented the official mascot of Berkeley. The name of the mascot came from the Oski-wow-wow yell. Today, there is a Oski Committee whose sole purpose is to care for clothing and also to keep secret the identity of the person wearing it.
In order to protect the Big C – which was often vandalized by students at Stanford University – and other traditions and the spirits Cal's school, the Committee of the UC Rally was created in 1901. Members of this committee have always been present in the main spirit and sporting events, which are responsible to maintain and attend the large California banner, Big C, the California Victory Canon, Stunts Card, and the five Cal flags Moreover, the Rally Committee is also responsible to keep the ax from Stanford, when ever is in possession of the University of California at Berkeley.
The California Victory Cannon and card tricks are two of the traditions of the school Cal victory Canyon for the first time in the Big Game in 1963, surged at the start of each football game, whenever the Golden Bears scored, and also after a victory. The first time the cannon ran out of ammunition was on 7 September 1991, when the Bears won a Gold game against Pacific. The card trick, also known as the acrobatics of the stands is something that Cal students invented. Card tricks, consisting of a C Big Blue and an image of Stanford Ax, was first performed for a major-party 1910.
