I Would Like To Be A Detective Any Guide Lines?
I’ve Always Wanted To Have A Job That Alows Me To Investigate A Crime Sene And Also Be Able To Hunt Down Stolen Items But All I Would Like To Know Is How Would One Go About Becoming A Detective?
I am not trying to slam you but the 1st thing you need to do is get a better grasp of the English language. A police department lives on reports. A DA issues warrants based on police reports. If you can’t write a good report then your chances of being promoted to a detective level are pretty slim.
Next, go to college & get a degree. Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice, Criminology, Psychology – all are good. When competing for a promotion, it often comes down to which candidate has education.
Next, learn how to talk with people from all areas, cultures, races, etc. About 90% of a cop’s job is communicating. The better you are at communicating with people, the better your chances to promote.
And my last suggestion, do not ever think being a detective is a glamorous job like you see on TV. Understand it is long tedious checking & rechecking clues. Know what you are getting into before you start. It will better prepare you.
