Hunting In Florida Guide
Could you help me plan a hunting trip?
I am going on a bow hunt on July 7th for wild hog in north florida. I was wondering, could you help me prepare for it, I am a first time hunter so I don’t know if I have everything I need for the trip, here is my current list of supplies:
1)”Indian Stalker” bow with a draw weight of 50 pounds (1).
2)”Gold Tip Expedition Hunter 5575″ weight tol. +/- 2 grains Straightness +/- 0.006 (1/2 dz.)

4)3 “Eastman Firstcut EXP Magnum 1 3/8″ Cutting Diameter .047″ Lead Blade Thickness 125 gr Weight Expandable cut on contact Broadhead”

6)A mesh mask.
7)Camo gloves.
8)Archery glove, and Arm guard.

50 lbs is plenty!! It will pass thru just fine. The only thing you might find is that all the different broad heads at different weights will hit different zeros. If you cant buy a full set of broad heads that match then just practice with each weight. Shoot field points that are the same weight as your hunting tips. Save your blades for super sharp cutting for quick clean kills. Or sharpen them the best you can after a shot or two at a target. I use Gold Tips 5575 and they are as good as any of that class. Keep the mask and gloves but practice with them on. Practice, practice, practice. But stop shooting when you start missing. Its hot so shoot hot. You got sweaty hands? Shoot sweaty. Drink water and Gatorade on your hunt. It will keep you sharp.
The golden moment that you take your shot, freeze your body at the moment of release. Pretend you are a tree after the arrow is gone. Dont even lower the bow. You can even practice this at your target. If you miss or he sees you moving, even a good hit, he’ll run for miles. Wait til he goes nite-nite to move. Get the next arrow ready only when he is looking away. I got a grizzly bear and a black bear with my bow. Boar is similar that he will mostly move away from the shot or look for the threat. So freeze. Be the tree. You can watch where he goes to follow and track blood trails.
