Hunting Oklahoma

How should I sight my rifle in for hunting coyote in the wide open country of Oklahoma?

I just returned from a coyote hunt and could never get them into a 100 yrds or less. The only place I have to sight my rifle in is at a 100 yrds. Should I sight it in 2″ high at 100yrds? Im using a remington 700 .243 using Remington 75gr Accupoint V ammunition.

so…how many did you actually shoot at? and were you high or low, left or right when you missed?

your 243 should be fairly flat out past 200 yards. The wind blows a lot here in central OK… are you sure you just didnt allow for cross wind?

Shooting up hill or down hill can get missed when you shoot out on a pasture too. OK looks flat to Easterners… but a prarie pasture can offer a significant change in elevation over 200 yards.

I dont know how hard it is to get back to were you were hunting… but next trip out check your zero on that pasture.

Dont feel bad.. I was 0-2 last week. Wide on a sitting coyote at about 75 yards and I missed a running shot on another.
