Hunting Regulations Ohio
Ohio, like many other states where deer hunting is a popular pastime, has been strictly regulated to ensure both seasons deer hunter safety, and for the preservation of the deer herd for seasons to come. The regulations are set by the Department of Natural Resources Ohio Division of Wildlife. While many hunters do not like the laws established by the DNR, it is important that you be obeyed as the department spends much time and money to investigate the population of deer. If you were responsible for many hunters ignore the laws in place, the deer population would plummet, length of history of some species have become extinct due to over-hunting.
One thing a hunter must obtain in Ohio, is a hunting license. To achieve this success must complete a hunter course security. Because many hunters take this course while still in school and probably does not cling to the certificate after submitting a license from another state, or signing an affidavit that you are over 21 and have previously had a hunting license in another state is sufficient. However, do not worry if you have not taken the course, are available everywhere and are written at a fifth grade level. While there is no minimum age for a child begins the hunt, children 15 and younger must be accompanied by an adult at least 18 years of age.
Ohio state regulations is legal to use any caliber firearm, rifle, shotgun gauge 10 which is or less, pneumatic arc with a draw weight of at least 40 pounds, or crossbow with a draw weight from 75 to 200 pounds hunt deer. Trapping and noting however, are illegal, as is the use of voice transmission devices while hunting. The hunt for motor vehicles other than boats or farm equipment is also prohibited. Also, for security reasons, all hunters must be visible in orange clothing during the open season.
As with any other state, Ohio also has regulations for the season and time of day, a hunter can hunt. Many weapons will not be fired before sunrise or after sunset. Due to the popularity of hunting for a variety of different species of wildlife in public areas, these areas are closed from September 1 to 1 May at any person not involved in the game 8-6, and 10 pm and 6 pm the rest of the year. This ensures that only hunters are camping overnight and therefore will be equipped with orange clothing visible.
Another great thing the state provides to ensure that what is dead is also used, many organizations that accept donations a portion of venison to feed the needy.
