The Toy Poodle is one type of the Poodle breed. There are three types of Poodles: Toy, Miniature and Standard, each type denoting a size. Poodles are considered hunting dogs, for his hunting skills and the ability of birds in the water. Although some disputes the claim, France is officially recognized as the origin of the Poodle. The Toy Poodle live an average of 12 to 15 years. To be considered a Toy Poodle, its size can only be up to 10 inches with a weight of 6 to 9 pounds.

Toy Poodles are considered intelligent and are among the easiest to train. Without consistent training, Toy Poodle will be voluntary, independent and can bark a lot. Toy Poodles like it surrounded by people, but can be reserved with strangers, making them good hunting dogs. Some Toy Poodles are known to be tight and snap. For this reason it is important Toy Poodle to socialize early and exercise caution around young children. This does not mean that a Toy Poodle does not make a good family pet. Toy Poodles tend to be loyal to their families and some are good with children. This race has a lot of energy, but does not require a lot of exercise, so it is a good choice for apartment dwellers.

It's a good idea to exercise a Toy Poodle, at least once a day to relieve the boredom that might occur. Curly hair family of the Toy Poodle grows constantly and must be trimmed every four to six weeks to keep. Lack of maintenance of the layer of skin can result in tangled that you can only remove with scissors. The familiar "Poodle Cut 'was really important to the dog when it was used for hunting. The cut helped to protect the joints and vital organs in cold water. Now, the clip is not needed and many owners opt to cut a little of everything.

There a variety of coat colors of poodles and hair tends to be relatively free throw, make a good choice for allergy sufferers, although it will dandruff. There are health problems that exist with this breed. Toy Poodles are prone to ear infections, watery eyes, digestive tract and heart disorders, skin conditions, slipped stifle, PRA (progressive retinal atrophy), IMHA (immune mediated hemolytic anemia), cataracts, entropion, epilepsy, inverterbral disc degeneration, Legg-Perthes patellar luxation, trichiasis, and urolithiasis.
