what age is best to start training my dog for squirrle hunting?
its now 7 weeks old and already sniffing around on trails but nothing in specific. is this a sign its ready start or not. if you have any sites that will teach how to train them to hunt squirrel or rabbit plzzz post same with any tips. i also need help on gun breaking it too. and would it be better just to start earlie or will it hurt it.
Right now !! Hide something in small boxes with a cut at top. I also use plastic empty butter containers tip over and cut a hole in the bottom. Place a treat underneath using about 4 to 5 and with leash on your puppy direct him and say ” find it ” he may need some help the first couple rounds but let him see the treat for reward.
Just do a couple three times a day so he don’t get bored too quick.
And you can try starting out with banging a couple pans together lightly. Then increase from there.
There are fear imprint stages at 9 weeks and again at 9 months so take care and watch how sound sensitive he might be. Build up the confidence now.
