Don’t Forget the Little Things When You Shop at the Hunting Supply Store
One thing is for sure and that is that you are going to have to stock up at the hunting supply store before you head out to bag some game. However; what you buy there can make the difference between a good and a bad hunting trip when you are out in the field.
Small containerized food supplies are the best way to go, because once you open something up, dirt and bugs are going to get into whatever you have left unfinished. Water purification tablets are something to think about also, because if your drinking water runs out and you have to drink from a creek it is wise to use them.
Even crystal clear mountain spring water can be contaminated with giardia and it is no joke. Giardia can leave you completely anchored to a bathroom with a world class case of diarrhea for up to two weeks, so think twice before you gulp that delicious looking water straight from a mountain creek.
Make sure that you bring plenty of flashlight batteries too, because you will probably use more of them then you plan on. Also bring two cans of insect repellent, because if the you run out and the mosquitoes are hungry you are in for some real misery.
Also remember to pick up a can of charcoal lighter to start your camp fire with if the weather turns wet. Remember to pick up a few small packs of tissue paper to carry along with you in case nature calls while you are in the field. Lastly you will need tools and a bag to field dress and pack your game out with, so you will also have to bear that in mind while you are doing your shopping.
