Hunting is such an important part of the Montana lifestyle and cowboy boots and buffalo. This is a key tissue in our social fabric and considers it a rite of passage for most of Montana. Those who think that the law legitimately can hunt from September to November. They take advantage assume that option for bow hunting, besides the traditional rifles or shotgun method. There is an added attraction to bow hunting because it starts early September when the weather is generally a little more bearable. Rifle hunters will generally have to brave freezing temperatures and fresh snow on the ground of his death. But in fact, the snow gives them an added advantage in monitoring. So the souls calling for a snowstorm in early Montana are without doubt the hunters and skiers.
When I came to Montana, I noticed the boards horizontally across many thresholds and garages. "It is to hang the deer," was the casual reply my husband. I was terrified. The thought of animal carcasses hanging randomly around the neighborhood made me nervous. Indeed, in October and November there were, the bodies of big game hunters as "trophies" hanging on a proud and defiant display. Many big game hunters left hanging for a maximum of five days to cure the meat and reduce test the "gamey". In Montana, many garages and sheds double as super-size refrigerators during the hunting season: the time of year temperatures usually stay below 40 degrees.
A friend of mine is strictly related to bird hunting. It will pull all kinds poultry you can get your eyes on either duck, Canada goose, pheasant, grouse or wild turkey. He is, however, more discrimination as will eat. He prefers pheasant anything else. When asked what he does with the birds who kills and does not mind eating he so eloquently stated, "ensure that of being eaten by something. "This means, first friends, family, neighbors and pets. How noble. Your wife does not mind eating any type of wild birds thus offering its own brand of discord between her home. However, most Saturday mornings who is caring for the river, shotgun in hand, waiting for the unwary bird to roam.
Big game seems to be more all-consuming for big-game hunter. At the beginning of the season, many hunters spend in a perfect kill, hoping the "big kill". I have my suspicions as to whether they are actually holding off for the "big kill" or simply milking hunting trips for all that is worthwhile. Spouses at home is known as "hunting widows" while waiting patiently for their other half to remove from your system. As soon as the magic phrase is pronounced, "This is your last weekend! Not go home until you something, "that somehow, miraculously enough I say, bring home an animal, either elk or deer or elk, or whatever it takes to fill their tag game. Animals are probably more nervous towards the end of the season when hunters who have filled their tag to shoot everything that crosses their path.
Each has its meat preferences. Most of my friends do not give venison, elk or buffalo preferring to deer. They have different ways of preparing game meat and interesting ways of disguising the taste of the more distinct, gamey meat taste to dislike. When my father came to visit, I made a real Montana Moose Meatloaf, which promotes itself as one of the highlights of your trip. Some of my friends, even boast that they have not had to buy red meat shop for years.
I made my first kill last fall in the Lolo National Forest. My rite of passage was paid by a small range which played its part in the life cycle to feed the family of my friend. Since I am a big fan of venison, my freezer contains courtesy particular elk, buffalo and elk on the generosity of another friend, as I did not kill any of them.
